A little laugh factory

Listen to this daily worship
Genesis 21: 1-6 (NRSVA)
1 The Lord dealt with Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as he had promised. 2 Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the time of which God had spoken to him. 3 Abraham gave the name Isaac to his son whom Sarah bore him. 4 And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him. 5 Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him. 6 Now Sarah said, ‘God has brought laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh with me.’
One of the gifts of our breath is that it carries our laughter to one another — laughter that sparks recognition, empathy, and solidarity.
It’s great when you get into one of those laughter loops isn’t it? Those times when you’re laughing because someone else is laughing and that then makes them laugh. This in turn, sets you off again. A little laugh factory.
Prayer:
Today Lord may we be laugh factories
laughing with one another
laughing at our mistakes
laughing at our foibles
laughing at the odds
laughing at the scale of it
laughing at how we got to here
laughing at the twists and turns
laughing in desperation
laughing in reassurance
laughing in wonder
laughing in empathy
laughing in surprise
laughing with you.
Amen.
