I Will Give You Rest

Listen to this daily worship
Jeremiah 31: 1-2 (NIV)
1 ‘At that time,’ declares the Lord, ‘I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they will be my people.’
2 This is what the Lord says:
‘The people who survive the sword
will find favour in the wilderness;
I will come to give rest to Israel.’
This is what the Lord says:
The people who survive the sword
Will find favour in the desert;
I will come to give rest…
Favour in the desert…
Deserts are hard places,
Barren places,
Places worn out,
Without nourishment,
Deprived of watering…
Lonely places,
Broken places,
Dry places devoid of life,
Where the only signs of life are the odd weed or two tumbling through on the dry wind…
Dried up reminders of what has once been…
Carried on past,
Too fleeting to grasp hold of,
Or hang on to…
A place of regret,
A place of yearning,
Of pain…
Of hunger, of thirst…
Favour you say Lord?
In that place?
To know comfort,
To be reminded of your company,
Unforgotten.
Is to be refreshed,
Replenished…
That you would meet me there…
In the barren place…
Meet my need,
Sate my hunger,
Quench my thirst,
Fill my yearning…
That I might find favour with you…
That my spirit may find its rest in you…
What grace,
What love.
Prayer:
Meet me there, Lord,
Drench me,
Fill me,
Make me new…
That I might find peace,
That I might know you,
And rest in you…
Amen.
