Jeremiah 31: 5-6 (NIV)

5 Again you will plant vineyards
    on the hills of Samaria;
the farmers will plant them
    and enjoy their fruit.

There will be a day when watchmen cry out
    on the hills of Ephraim,
“Come, let us go up to Zion,
    to the Lord our God.”’

Again!

A promise.

You will live,

You will dance,

You will thrive…

Again!

The life you once had,

The security you once knew,

The dreams you once dreamt,

You will know them…

Again!

The things that are only memories,

That lie in ashes around you,

The longings that break your heart…

They will be…

Again!

The garden that was ravaged, and ruined and plundered,

Will be planted…

Again!

Tended…

Again!

And it will grow,

Again!

And bear fruit…

Again!

What a promise.

Life will come,

Again!

You are not lost,

You are not forgotten,

God has heard your cries…

Life will return,

As streams of living water flow,

In the midst of destruction —

Green shoots will grow,

The earth will be levelled,

And a vineyard planted…

Again.

There will be a future,

There will be fruit,

There will be a tomorrow,

Full of life, full of hope, full of joy.

And so,

Let us sing, let us dance, let us shout out loud our thanks,

Let us praise the one who loves us,

Who promises us an again!

Prayer:

Remaker,

Renewer,

Restorer,

Your healing balm wipes away the ruins of our pasts,

You offer us

New beginnings,

Fresh hopes,

You promise us an again…

Give us faith to look forward,

To believe that with you all things are possible,

That we can be remade and that there is a future…

A fruit-filled future.

That we will live —

Again!
